The United States is ready to kick off its summer slate of international matches with a friendly against Belgium tonight in Cleveland, Ohio. Head coach Jurgen Klinsmann called in a host of players, mixing European experience with MLS pedigree, and it looks like he's trying to not only prepare his squad for World Cup Qualifying, but also get an idea of who he can rely upon when it's time to play the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
In important news, DaMarcus Beasley is about to get his 100th U.S. cap tonight. It's a great accomplishment for a player who was once considered an integral part of the Nats' success, putting in a stellar 2002 World Cup campaign along with fellow young upstart Landon Donovan. He's since fallen in and out of favor after the 2006 tournament, but has still managed to hit the century mark. Good for him.
