Revolution vs. Red Bulls 2013 Round Two Lineups: Imbongo Starts Up Top, Bengtson Benched

The Revolution and the Red Bulls have announced their lineups for tonight's match at Gillette Stadium.

USA TODAY Sports

New England Revolution head coach Jay Heaps has announced his lineup for tonight's match against the New York Red Bulls, and while he made only two changes, one of them is going to be food for thought all night. Jerry Bengtson has been benched, and Dimitry Imbongo will be playing the role of the lone striker to start.

The move could be due to a number of factors, the most innocuous being the recent congestion of fixtures and the need for Bengtson to get some rest. After a series of substandard performances, however, there's no way to avoid speculation that he's being benched to send a message.

After inexplicably leaving him out the 18 on Wednesday, Heaps has reinstated Kalifa Cisse in defensive midfield, moving Scott Caldwell back to the bench. Cisse should be fresh and ready to go after almost a week and a half of rest.
