Revolution 0-1 FC Dallas: Player Ratings and Man of the Match

The New England Revolution lost and lost ugly to FC Dallas on Saturday, conceding a late goal to go down 1-0 as their offensive woes continue. There wasn't a whole lot that could be considered redeemable about that performance, but let's see what we could come up with. Steve and Corey contributed ratings this week.

USA TODAY Sports

Bobby Shuttleworth: Average rating - 4 (Steve 4, Corey 4)

Steve: Made some great saves, but on at least two occasions he came out and was beaten to the ball. Haphazard outing...Corey: Fine but numbers don't lie. He's 0-2 on the season.

Kevin Alston: Average rating - 4 (Steve 4, Corey 4)

Steve: Defensively o.k. at best, but that chance? Oh dear God...Corey: Poor positioning, not great marking. Oh and, you know, screwed up our best chance on goal.

Jose Goncalves: Average Rating - 5.75 (Steve 5.5, Corey 6)

Steve: It was a pretty good outing, but he got bailed out more than once, especially when he let Cooper pick his pocket and set up Ferreira for a clear chance...Corey: Another superb shift.

A.J. Soares: Average rating - 6 (Steve 6, Corey 6)

Steve: One of the few performers I liked out there...Corey: Saved our asses on a handful of occasions.

Andrew Farrell: Average rating - 6 (Steve 6, Corey 6)

Steve: This kid. Fast, aggressive, plays it on the floor. Easily one of the best on the field in the first four games...Corey: I just can't get enough of this kid.

Lee Nguyen: Average rating - 4.25 (Steve 4.5, Corey 4)

Steve: He was tricky in parts and combined well sometimes, but the creativity and ability to direct the attack we saw last year seems to be gone. Starting to become a concern...Corey: Poor performance. Seems to have lost all his old tricks. Benny-esque shots on goal. He bagged those last year.

Clyde Simms: Average rating - 5 (Steve 5, Corey 5)

Steve: 75% passing, 0/2 on tackles, but had a block, an interception, and 4 recoveries. Thoroughly average...Corey: Pretty good, can't complain.

Juan Toja: Average rating - 5.25 (Steve 5, Corey 5.5)

Steve: One of the best passers on the team, actually, but he's not gelling too well with his teammates due to his free-roaming style. Also needs to cut out losing the ball on the dribble...Corey: Active but needs to start providing some attack.

Diego Fagundez: Average rating - 5.5 (Steve 5.5, Corey 5.5)

Steve: Accurate passer, good on the dribble, got the shot off, was a clear point of attack. However, all of his six incomplete passes were in the final third...Corey: Did well tracking back and was involved often but squandered some good chances...maybe he's still not ready?

Ryan Guy: Average rating - 4.5 (Steve 4, Corey 5)

Steve: Not a great game, but it's not his fault. Played out of position, the whole attack was out of sync. However, he did have a recovery and two interceptions, all in or around the final third...Corey: I liked Guy in this one because he gives us more balance but didn't help us much in the attack.

Jerry Bengtson: Average rating - 4.75 (Steve 4.5, Corey 5)

Steve: I want to see better movement. He's not a creator, and doesn't need to be, but he needs to get open a bit more, especially when he knows the service has been subpar...Corey: Need more. Straight up. Either he starts producing or sell him this summer.

Kelyn Rowe (sub): Average rating - 4.75 (Steve 4.5, Corey 5)

Steve: Revs had their best run of play after he came in, so there's that, but wasn't sparking the attack. He did have 4 recoveries and 2 interceptions, though...Corey: Proving he's better as a sub, but not helping us with our biggest issue this time.

Andy Dorman (sub): Average rating - N/A

Chris Tierney (sub): Average rating - N/A
