The Match in Tweet: New England Revolution 2-0 Philadelphia Union

A tribute to the Marathon victims and workers, a tribute to Kevin Alston, the long wait for goals is over, Nyassi made the bench, and, oh yeah, the Revs got 3 points. What a happy night to be on Twitter.

USA TODAY Sports

It's been awhile since the New England Revolution had success on the offensive end of the pitch. Going into the match against the Philadelphia Union, the Revs were sitting in last place in the I95 Corridor Cup and second to last place in the Eastern Conference. Twitter was already exploding pregame with negativity (as Twitter is prone to do).

However, there is nothing like a win to reengage fan passion. New England played their most complete game of the season, and Twitter went nuts with...joy? Whether it is Rowe's early miss, the breaking of the goal-less streak, the excitement of three points, or the appearance of Sainey Nyassi on the 18, Twitter was prepared to celebrate like we won the MLS Cup and simultaneously smash us like we "won" the Wooden Spoon.
