The lineups are in and here's who will be taking the field tonight for both sides in their first match-up of the 2013 season:
New England Starting XI:
Shuttleworth, Tierney (c), Goncalves, Soares, Farrell, Nguyen, Dorman, Cisse, Rowe, Fagundez, Bengtson
New England Bench: Soffner, Toja, Guy, McCarthy, Simms, Barnes, Sene
New York Starting XI:
Robles; Barklage, Holgersson, Pearce, Miller; Alexander, Cahill, McCarty, Steele; Espindola, Henry
New York Bench: Costano, Kimura, Lade, Akpon, Obekop, Olave, Sam
No huge surprises form the Red Bulls lineup. It turns out that Jamison Olave is indeed sitting this one out after sustaining an injury on Wednesday night against Sporting Kansas City. That should be at least one less thing for the Revolution defense (and offense) to worry about. He is on the bench, however.
For the Revs, it looks like Jay Heaps has shaken things up a bit. Clyde Simms seems is not included in the starting XI for the first time all season while Andy Dorman gets his first start in his place. Juan Toja is also left out of the starting XI and Diego Fagundez will assume his role tonight. Another interesting note is that Chris Tierney is wearing the captain's armband for the first time this season and possibly ever, as far as I can remember.
Saer Sene is on the bench tonight once again, and it is safe to assume that he will see some minutes at some point and hope to be a difference maker as he continues on his road back to full fitness.
It's sure to be an emotional match for the Revs, so hopefully they will be able to channel that emotion into a win. Or at least a goal.
