United States vs. Mexico 2013: USMNT Live Game Thread

The US Men's National Team is in hostile territory, taking on Mexico at the Azteca, south of the border. This is an opportunity for the Yanks to win their first World Cup qualifier in Mexico, and the odds are good: Jurgen Klinsmann is undefeated against Mexico as the Nats' manager.

This is it, folks. This is for all the marbles. This is the game that matters more than any other, because it's the United States and it's Mexico and it's World Cup Qualifying and it's at the Azteca and all of the ridiculousness that goes with such a big rivalry match. No USA fan likes the idea of Mexico beating the Yanks, and no Mexico fan will accept failure at Estadio Azteca. It's about to go down, kids.

Clarence Goodson and Jermaine Jones are out with injuries, and in their place you'll see Matt Besler and Maurice Edu. I am really happy to see Edu get the start; I have always felt he's underrated in the USA pipeline as a defensive midfielder, and I think with him in the midfield, you'll see Michael Bradley feel far more comfortable playing the box-to-box late-arriving role out of midfield instead of sitting deep the whole time, like he sometimes does when Jones is in.
