On Tuesday, the Breakers continued to add draft-pick depth, dealing defender Casey Short to Chicago in exchange for the 11th overall pick in the NWSL College draft. The Red Stars also received a 2015 third-round pick, a selection the Breakers acquired from Seattle in exchange for midfielder Moriah Nogueira.

Short, who missed the entire 2013 season with a torn ACL, served as the Breakers first-round draft selection (No. 5 overall) last season. The Naperville, Ill. native and Florida State graduate originated as a forward and midfielder, making the switch to left back during a 23-game senior campaign. Short now plays forward for the U-23 USWNT.

After completing their third trade in less than two weeks, the Breakers' hold significant power in the NWSL draft, claiming the Nos. 7, 11, 18, 20 and 28 overall selections.
