Revolution 3, Crew 2 - Player Ratings and Man of the Match

The Revs are on the doorstep of the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs thanks to a 3-2 win in their final home game of the year. Here's how Jake, Corey and Abram rated the players performance from last Saturday.

Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Reis - Average Rating 7 - (Jake 7, Corey 7.5, Abram 6.5)

Jake: Defense failed him on the second goal, but an otherwise solid day in net. Perhaps one more chance for that elusive championship? Corey: He may have let in two goals, but it was the goals he didn't allow (4 saves) that make the difference in this one. Abram: I'm not sure what the plan is for next season. Reis is the once and current king, but is he the future one too?

Chris Tierney - Average Rating - 6.5 (Jake 6.5, Corey 6.5, Abram 6.5)

Jake: Really improving on his service lately, stone cold from the penalty spot, just a very solid overall game much like his entire season. Corey: Yeah, he was out-paced by Dominic Oduro. But did anyone expect otherwise? Added points for confident PK. Abram: Service is essential.

Jose Goncalves - Average Rating 6 - (Jake 6, Corey 6, Abram 6)

Jake: An average game for JoGo means that he completes over 75% of his passes, 7 clearances, 7 recoveries and whatever happened on that second Crew goal. Corey: Steady as ever, but not another shut-out this week for his back-line. Abram: Pay the man. Not his best of the season, but still above average.

A.J. Soares - Average Rating - 6.5 (Jake 7.5, Corey 6.5, Abram 5.5)

Jake: Awesome goal, dominated the air and is really hitting his stride right when the Revs need it. Corey: Continuing to earn his spot in the Starting XI. Great goal (how is it that A.J. always scores clutch goals at the end of the season??) Abram: Yes, he scored, but I still do not love him. Appears to be the same player he was when drafted.

Andrew Farrell - Average Rating - 5.5 (Jake 6, Corey 5.5, Abram 5)

Jake: Had a lot of space to operate with going forward and did okay with his passing in the attacking half. Corey: Nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. Got beat once by Anor which is somewhat rare for the rookie. Still a good night. Abram: Very average performance.

Scott Caldwell - Average Rating - 5.5 (Jake 5, Corey 6, Abram 5.5)

Jake: After Dorman's performance, the conversation of him on the bench can be started (but not necessarily won). Needs to be able to impact the attack, not just support it at this point in the year. Corey: Got out-muscled by Tchani frequently, but we expected that, right? Dorman covered for him well and made up for his lack of physicality. Good distributor as always. Abram: Caldwell needs to hit the gym and get his weight up for next year. Solid performance, but pushed around a bit too much.

Diego Fagundez - Average Rating - 7.83 (Jake 7, Corey 9, Abram 7.5)

Jake: Still needs to do more in the attacking game besides scoring, but he's really, really good at that part and I thought he had a good two-way shift. Corey: The comeback kid. Loves the pressure. Abram: Pressure. Big opportunistic goal from Diego and another solid performance. Still think JoGo is the MVP, but I'm not embarrassed that Diego got it.

Andy Dorman - Average Rating - 9 (Jake 9, Corey 10, Abram 8)

Jake: That was vintage Dorman from his first stint with the Revs from 04-07 and I loved pretty much every minute of it. Corey: Obvious MOTM. Gets a straight up 10. Came into the lineup in a time of desperation and over-achieved like a BOSS. Abram: I spent the entire pre-game cracking wise about Dorman starting an important game and not being up to speed. I was wrong. Clearly MotM.

Kelyn Rowe - Average Rating - 7.5 (Jake 7.5, Corey 7.5, Abram 7.5)

Jake: Just look at his chalkboard! OPTA ran out of room at the bottom for all the stuff he did. Corey: EVERYWHERE. Revs need to lock this kid up for as long as possible. Lots of work on defense. Abram: Not to overstate, but how close is he to at least a January call up?

Juan Agudelo - Average Rating - 5 (Jake 5, Corey 5.5, Abram 4.5)

Jake: It's a decent two-way shift but nothing spectacular, and the Revs need him to be spectacular. Corey: Really liked him on the wing. A fine game, but not playing at the level he was mid-season. Abram: Got to finish that Rowe pass in the seventh minute. Unforgivable. Outside of that a decent shift.

Jerry Bengtson - Average Rating - 5 (Jake 5, Corey 6, Abram 4)

Jake: He's not great as a holding forward, but the work he does defensively shouldn't go unmentioned, but he lacks confidence offensively in a Revs shirt. Corey: Actually thought he had a pretty nice game. Set up two great chances that his teammates couldn't put away. Abram: He does some little things well. I was in awe at some of his flick-ons, unfortunately flick-ons don't count as goals. He did get a shot on goal, which is why he's not lower.

Dimitry Imbongo - Average Rating - 6 (Jake 6, Corey 6, Abram 6)

Jake: Came in and caused trouble all over the place, for himself as well, another yellow puts him back on 4 for the year and one away from an accumulation suspension. Corey: Actually thought he had a pretty nice game. Set up two great chances that his teammates couldn't put away. Abram: He came in as a project, but I can see the dividends right about to pay off.

Kevin Alston - Average Rating - 5.5 (Jake 6, Corey 5.5, Abram 5)

Jake: Came on late for the injured Tierney, really solid performance for him in a short shift. Corey: Good tactical move by Heaps to try to nullify Oduro's switch out wide. Abram: Brought in speed to keep up with Oduro. Didn't really need to do much more.

Stephen McCarthy - Average Rating - 5.5 (Jake 5.5, Corey 5.5, Abram 5.5)

Jake: Like Heaps' move to put him in at CDM, gave the Revs a more physical presence to close out the game. Corey: Another good move by Heaps. McCarthy's size helped us see out the game when Crew were throwing it all at us. Abram: Wait? He still plays in the midfield? Honestly, it was a smart move by Heaps to bring on Big Macca since Caldwell was getting manhandled.
