Breakers' Acquire Forward Courtney Jones for No. 4 Draft Selection

On Thursday, Tom Durkin's new-look Breakers completed its second trade of the 2013 off-season, acquiring FC Kansas City forward Courtney Jones and the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NWSL College Draft. In return, the Breakers surrendered its first-round pick, the draft's fourth overall selection.

Jones returns to Boston after a two-goal, six-assist campaign in 2012, competing for the Breakers in the now-defunct WPSL Elite. The Palo Alto, Calif. native joined FC Kansas City for the 2013 season, contributing four goals and one assist in 22 appearances (six starts). Jones will join a now-crowded pool of strikers, competing for minutes alongside Sydney Leroux, Lianne Sanderson, Katie Schoepfer, Kyah Simon and Anisa Guajardo.

"I am delighted to be bringing Courtney back to Boston," said Breakers' General Manager Lee Billiard. "She was fantastic for us on and off the field a couple years ago. She will add athleticism, quality, and a strong competitive attitude to the group. I believe this is a great move for us."

Prior to joining the Breakers in 2012, Jones starred at the University of North Carolina, scoring 36 goals and adding 32 assists as a four-year starter. The recognized UNC alum won NCAA Division I Championships in 2008 and 2009.
