On Wednesday, the Breakers announced the off-season departure of forward Kyah Simon, who will join the Western Sydney Wanderers of the Australian W-League. Simon, who grew up in Quakers Hill, Australia, began playing in her native country in 2008, scoring five goals in nine appearances as a member of the Central Coast Mariners. The following season, Simon joined Sydney FC, earning Golden Boot honors after an 11-goal campaign.

In 2013, Simon fought criticism from previous Breakers coach Lisa Cole, contributing three goals and three assists for her American-based side. Cole's disapproval stemmed from Simon's 2013 drop off; the Australian striker scored 12 goals in 2012, trailing only Adriana on the WPSL goals table.

The Breakers will welcome Simon's return in March 2014, when Tom Durkin's crew will begin training for the 2014 season.
