Revolution 1-1 Dynamo: Player Ratings and Man of the Match

Saturday's game was rough all around, and thus not too many players acquitted themselves well given the style of the match. Get a look at how Steve rated each player's performance.

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Reis: Average Rating - 7 (Steve 7)

Steve: Thought Reis was excellent. Two saves, very little chance on the goal, commanded his area and communicated well. Distribution was particularly good, which has been a weak spot of his lately.

Chris Tierney: Average Rating - 5.5 (Steve 5.5)

Steve: Generally solid outing. Nearly scored on the free kick routine. Deliveries consistently dangerous, defensively sound. Passing could have been better, but overall a quality contributor.

Jose Goncalves: Average Rating - 5.5 (Steve 5.5)

Steve: Solid as usual, but would really like to have seen him react differently on the goal rather than staring at Bruin and yelling at the official. Hardly his fault, however. Distribution uncharacteristically sloppy (69% completion percentage) but that was true of everyone.

A.J. Soares: Average Rating - 4 (Steve 4)

Steve: Defensive stats off the charts, and had decent distribution. Looks like a good day. But conceded two fouls in dangerous spots, nearly let Bruin score early in the second half, and his theatrics at midfield directly resulted in the goal, as he was out of position at the back line and his teammates could not recover. Get tough, play to the whistle. Also missed a nearly-free header off a corner that would probably have been a goal.

Andrew Farrell: Average Rating - 4.5 (Steve 4.5)

Steve: One of the day's most accurate passers, actually. Decent defensive stats. Unfortunately, his atrocious clearance allowed Garcia to feed a wide-open Bruin for the goal, and his coverage on Bruin at that point was lackluster.

Scott Caldwell: Average Rating - 5 (Steve 5)

Steve: Match skipped the midfield pretty heavily, so not as involved as he usually is. Still accurate and effective, and several times demonstrated the ability to shrug off challenges from bigger opponents and retain possession.

Diego Fagundez: Average Rating - 4.5 (Steve 4.5)

Steve: Marked him down for that miss...you just always expect him to bury those. More involved than usual, though his giveaways were an issue. Struggled to really impose himself on the game and held the ball too long at times. Still a constant danger to be reckoned with.

Lee Nguyen: Average Rating - 8 (Steve 8)

Steve: Should have had two assists, not one. Everywhere on the pitch, lots of touches, distribution could have been better but still effective. Perhaps not best-suited to midfield general role, but taking by the horns nonetheless.

Kelyn Rowe: Average Rating - 4 (Steve 4)

Steve: He's dangerous, he has a license to shoot from anywhere and uses it, and his corner deliveries were adequate. Passing percentage under 50%,though, which is unacceptable. Staggering number of turnovers. Clean it up.

Saer Sene: Average Rating - 6 (Steve 6)

Steve: Scored the goal, and what a well-taken goal it was. Surprisingly tidy with his passing, at least for him. Another player with a lot of turnovers, though. Would like to see him provide more width occasionally, add some variety to his game.

Dimitry Imbongo: Average Rating - 3.5 (Steve 3.5)

Steve: Heaps defended his performance, and he absolutely worked hard. However, he didn't hold the ball well, got caught offside far too often, and made the attack generally toothless. The change that came over the side when Agudelo was introduced only made it more obvious that Imbongo had a rough night.

Juan Agudelo (sub): Average Rating - 6 (Steve 6)

Steve: Changed the game when he came on. Nearly scored himself, and opened up the attack completely. Would have liked to see him get a goal, but it can't all be on his shoulders.
