Revolution vs. United: Live Game Thread, Part III

Stew Milne-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Hello everyone and welcome to the latest live blog here on The Bent Musket! The New England Revolution are taking on D.C. United tonight at RFK Stadium in a match that will complete the season trilogy between the two sides, a series that United currently leads with a 2-0-0 record. With the Revs essentially out of the playoff race this match might seem like an afterthought, but New England will likely see this as a rare opportunity to play spoiler against a heated rival, as D.C. is still in the fight for a playoff spot in the East.

United will have to deal with the absence of 2011 MLS MVP Dwayne De Rosario, who injured his MCL while on international duty this past week. Further, they'll be facing Revolution designated player Jerry Bengtson for the first time this season; Bengtson has scored twice already for New England, but is also carrying the momentum of some blistering international form after a summer's worth of excellent performances and a fat handful of goals for Honduras.

Today's live thread might have a special guest, by the way. After some conversation on twitter, the following happened:

So be sure to join the discussion with us and say hi to noted boxer and Revolution fan Danny O'Connor after the jump!
