After every match this season, the staff here at The Bent Musket will be putting together player ratings. Ratings are on a 1-10 scale, with 5 representing a thoroughly average performance, and 6 a decent/capable showing. The final ratings will be averages of individual ratings from Corey Major, Matty Jollie, and Abram Chamberlain. Brendan Schimmel had to sit this one out.

Matt Reis: Average Rating - 5.5 (Steve 5.5, Corey 5.5, Matty 5.5, Abram 5.5)

Steve: Not a whole lot he could have done, stranded on the goal. Otherwise looked good...Corey: Nothing he could do on the goal. Had a few good saves that helped keep the scoreline at 1-0...Matty: Solid night for Reis, not too much you can do on that goal...Abram: Good performance, in a perfect world he gets a foot to that ball, but one on one with Teal Bunbury is never a good place for a 'keeper to be.

Chris Tierney: Average Rating - 5.125 (Steve 5, Corey 5.5, Matty 5, Abram 5)

Steve: Quiet game, not much wrong or right either way...Corey: Service was pretty good I thought. Kept up on defense pretty well. Would have liked to see him link up with Lee more...Matty: Service was decent on the night...Abram: The one goal was not his fault, put some good service.

Darrius Barnes: Average Rating - 5.5 (Steve 6, Corey 5.5, Matty 5.5, Abram 5)

Steve: Best player on the field for me. Didn't make mistakes, defended well...Corey: Pretty good outing for Barnes. He's been pretty consistent and I liked what I saw from him in this one...Matty: Did well in his spot start, good physical tools, it's the positioning that needs work...Abram: was serviceable I like him in a pinch for either McCarthy or Soares, not sure I'd enjoy him as a full-time starter.

Stephen McCarthy: Average Rating - 4.75 (Steve 4.5, Corey 5, Matty 4.5, Abram 5)

Steve: Goal was not just his mistake, but it marred an otherwise average night...Corey: Not the most spectacular outing, shares responsibility for the goal with Simms...Matty: One huge mistake ruins a reasonably good night...Abram: A lot of responsibility for the goal lies on Macca, but one mistake shouldn't destroy a game.

Florian Lechner: Average Rating - 4.5 (Steve 5, Corey 4.5, Matty 4.5, Abram 4)

Steve: Did nothing wrong, put in a good cross, but only got 45 minutes...Corey: Unimpressive on the whole. Showed that he can cross into the box from the sideline, unlike Alston, but other parts of his game are lacking...Matty: Good, solid player, but he is pretty slow by professional athlete standards...Abram: He has some solid moments, but nothing spectacular. Had difficulty keeping up with SKC's pace.

Lee Nguyen: Average Rating - 4.75 (Steve 5, Corey 5, Matty 4.5, Abram 4.5)

Steve: Got beaten to a pulp while on the ball, and was very quiet...Corey: Quiet night. As Heaps said, he was getting fouled pretty incessantly. Couldn't really find room to move...Matty: Mid-summer slump?...Abram: Seems like an off night for lee.

Clyde Simms: Average Rating - 4.625 (Steve 4.5, Corey 4.5, Matty 5, Abram 4.5)

Steve: Not the game we've come to expect from him...Corey: Was quick to own up to the goal. Knows it was his bad decision that caused it. Not much else to say...Matty: Average at best. Didn't expect much in his first match as "the man" in the CDM role without Shalrie. Too much pressure?...Abram: Maybe I expect too much from Simms, or maybe it's that SKC tries to avoid the midfield completely, but he was pretty ineffective on the night.

Benny Feilhaber: Average Rating - 5.125 (Steve 5.5, Corey 4, Matty 5.5, Abram 5.5)

Steve: If Imbongo doesn't kick a field goal, Benny has an assist. Not phenomenal, but a solid game...Corey: Quiet and invisible. Most of the night I forgot he was out there...Matty: I don't think casual fans are realizing how good he's been defensively...Abram: Had some great defensive moments, a great pass in the box that should have been finished, but SKC's plan of pestering and avoiding the midfield hurt his effectiveness.

Ryan Guy: Average Rating - 5.5 (Steve 5, Corey 6, Matty 5.5, Abram 5.5)

Steve: Lively, hard-working, but ultimately average...Corey: Work horse. I thought he did quite well at RM. Did fine at RB, but that's not where he should be playing. Deserves more starts...Matty: Nice game from Ryan. He's done everything Heaps has asked him to...Abram: The Swiss Army Knife of the Revs. Solid.

Saer Sene: Average Rating - 4.75 (Steve 5, Corey 4, Matty 5, Abram 5)

Steve: He likes to drop too deep I think, but did not play poorly...Corey: Who? Oh the guy with the mohawk? Oh yeah, I remember him...Matty: The missed chances will always stand out, but Saer played well on the whole...Abram: Maybe should have scored off the header, not as bad as people would have you believe.

Dimitry Imbongo: Average Rating - 4.75 (Steve 4, Corey 5, Matty 5, Abram 5)

Steve: His job was to hold up play, which he did pretty well. But when presented with those two glorious opportunities, a striker MUST AT LEAST put them on frame...Corey: Decent outing for his first start. Unfortunately, he missed two golden opportunities. But is that really any different than any of our other forwards?...Matty: Speaking of missed chances...needs to get up to MLS strength/speed levels...Abram: Has to finish that header. Lots of complaints about him "flopping" but on watching the game, he is literally being thrown around.

Fernando Cardenas (sub): Average Rating - 4.875 (Steve 4.5, Corey 6, Matty 4.5, Abram 4.5)

Steve: Looked like an inspired substitution. For about 10 minutes, then petered out...Corey: Provided a great boost but fizzled out too soon...Matty: Energizer Bunny, but again, all speed no substance...Abram: High octane injection of energy, fun to watch, but in the end provided little.

Diego Fagundez (sub): Average Rating - 3.625 (Steve 4, Corey 4, Matty 3.5, Abram 3)

Steve: Did not look good, but was put in a very tough situation...Corey: Oh right, he played didn't he? Hm...Matty: How many times do I have to say you can't play an undersized teenager in a physical match?...Abram: Not the right sub to make. A physically bruising game, and we put in a small framed teenager who's a finesse player?

Kelyn Rowe (sub): Average Rating - 4.125 (Steve 4, Corey 4, Matty 4.5, Abram 4)

Steve: Came on and immediately disappeared...Corey: I got nothing...Matty: Came in too late to really make the impact he wanted to. That's more on Heaps than Kelyn, really...Abram: It's an attacking sub, which is good I guess, but should have come on in place of Fagundez earlier. Didn't do a whole lot.
