The Revolution will host their I-95 rival New York Red Bulls tonight at Gillette Stadium as they look to get back to winning ways and exact revenge for their 1-0 loss at Red Bull Arena earlier this season. The Revs (5-7-4) are coming off an undefeated June which featured a win and three ties, while the Red Bulls (9-4-4) sit comfortably in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference standings.
New York looks to be without six of their normal starters-Thierry Henry, Rafa Marquez, Jan Gunnar Solli, Teemu Tainio, Heath Pearce, and Markus Holgersson-who are all sidelined due to injury-related issues. Although the matchup is a tasty one for the Revs with this influx of injuries, they will be wise to remember that last time these two sides met New York was also without several starters, particularly on defense, but still managed to secure a win.
The Revs will also be short-handed without their captain Shalrie Joseph, but also desperately need a full three points to keep pace with the rest of the Eastern Conference and make a push for a playoff berth.
The big news coming out of Foxboro this week was the signing of Honduran forward Jerry Bengtson who was officially added to the roster on Friday after the necessary paperwork was squared away. Thefore, the Revs' newest toy (and newest Designated Player) is available for selection tonight and could very well make his New England debut.
