Revs Pick Up Lee Nguyen off Waivers

The New England Revolution have announced that they have picked up former USMNT midfielder Lee Nguyen in the MLS Waiver Draft. Nguyen, who was a star in the Vietnamese League, was awarded to the Vancouver Whitecaps in a weighted allocation draft earlier this year; however, he did not catch on and was waived prior to the roster compliance deadline. He will officially be added to the roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

Being as Nguyen could potentially play on the wing or up-top, this is an exciting move for New England. Potentially I could see a lineup that had Kelyn Rowe and Nguyen on either wing and Benny Feilhaber - who has been playing wide-left during the Desert Diamond Cup - moving more centrally, . Of course, in theory, it could also be a move to keep Rowe's minutes down so that he does not graduate Generation Adidas early. There is also the possibility that Nguyen is used more as a forward than a winger. Either way, this is an exciting move for New England.

Where do you see Nguyen fitting in with the Revolution? Comment below.
