Fresh off a 2-0 World Cup Qualifying loss at the hands of Carlos Ruiz and Guatemalan National Team, the United States face a "win or else" rematch tonight at Mapfre Stadium.
The Americans currently occupy the third spot in Group C (fourth round) of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying. Lose, and the road to Russia looks increasingly daunting; win, and the U.S. finds itself back in position to advance into the Hex.
Can Jurgen Klinsmann's men find their stride in tonight's rematch? To do so, they will need to break Guatemalan 'keeper Paulo Motta, who turned in a man-of-the-match worthy, five-save, shutout performance four days ago. A veteran midfield led by Alejandro Bedoya, Lee Nguyen and Michael Bradley could do the trick, according to our very own Jake Catanese. Nguyen did not appear in Friday's loss, but was one of January camp's "winners," according to Klinsmann. The Revolution midfielder will likely feature in tonight's contest.
