The Marvin Ceballos transfer saga continues as the midfielder became a free agent yesterday, possibly paving the way for him to sign with the New England Revolution.
Ceballos had previously been with Comunicaciones of native Guatemala since 2009. The attacker established himself as a first team regular in 2011, the same year that he scored a crucial goal in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Ceballos' time with Comunicaciones came to an end on Jun. 30, 2015 when his contract expired.
In mid-June, Ceballos began trialing with the Revs and familiarizing himself with the area. Now a free agent, Ceballos and his representative are engaged in negotiations with Revolution officials. Although Guatemalan reports have stated that a deal is done, nothing has been finalized yet.
Ceballos has been described as a "strong workhorse" with a creative mind. Capable of playing on the wing or up top, Ceballos would be another weapon in an already talented corps.
