A few notes, first about the Rhinos lineup: Rookie goalkeeper John McCarthy got the nod for the home opener but is also his second match after Revolution loanee Soffner started two matches. Sundly could take up a wide position as Banks was listed as a midfielder and Vu a forward, however all of these players are versatile enough to shift roles on the fly. Smith was listed on the matchday roster as a midfielder and he is likely to see at least 30 minutes off the bench.
As for the Battery lineup: Starting goalkeeper Cooper will sit out this game because the team played last night in Pittsburgh, as will former Rhino defender John Wilson. USMNT fans may (key word, may) remember Quinton Griffith as the short-short wearing wide player who consistently carried the ball forward for the Antigua and Barbuda national team against the US in 2012. Andre Lewis caused minor internet drama in January when Vancouver selected him in the draft even though he had recently signed with the Cosmos, from whom he is on loan to MLS (and then on loan again to Charleston). Cooper, Chang, and Cordoves are all former Cuban national team players who left the team during a match in Toronto and sought residency in this country.
