A.J. Soares' next club might be in Norway as the defender is on trial with Stabæk Fotball of the Trippeligaen.
A photo surfaced on Twitter on Monday that shows Soares participating in a passing drill. The tweet was sent by Arild Bruaset, who appears to regularly snap pictures at Stabæk practices. The club has since confirmed that Soares is with the team. A few hours after that confirmation, the same club official reached out and retractedthat confirmation. Soares is only there on a training stint.

Soares' contract with the New England Revolution expired at the end of 2014. Since then, he has been exploring European options with Serie A's Hellas Verona being a rumored destination. Talks with Verona have reportedly stalled, which could pave the way for Soares to move to Stabæk.
The Norwegian club already has an American feel as the team is managed by former US Men's National Team coach Bob Bradley. Since becoming head coach of Stabæk in 2014, Bradley has brought in a number of American players, including former Real Salt Lake man Cole Grossman, who is currently with the team.
Stabæk is fully engaged in preparations for the 2015 season.
