The New England Revolution roster continues to take shape in small bits and pieces as news broke today that Donnie Smith, a now-third-year winger out of UNC-Charlotte who has also seen time at left-back, will be re-signed to the squad. Per club and league policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Smith has made two league appearances for the club in the last two seasons, and in grand total has seen five competitive matches with the first team. He split the 2014 season between Foxboro and the Revs' USL Pro affiliate, the Rochester Rhinos.
In Rochester, he saw more time as a central midfielder, making seven appearances for the Rhinos. Two of those came in the USL postseason.
Smith will be present along with the rest of the squad for their first training session of the new season on Friday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. Presumably, he will then join them in Arizona for preseason camp.
