The New England Revolution announced on Friday that Diego Fagundez has been called into Uruguay's Under-20 National Team camp. This is the second time that Fagundez has earned a call-up from Uruguay as he spent a week with the U20s in October 2012.
The 19-year-old will travel to Lima, Peru, on Sunday, August 3 and is expected to return to the Revs on Friday, August 8. The Uruguay U20 team will face Peru on Monday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 6. Fagundez is not expected to miss any MLS minutes since the Revolution are on a bye-week.
Fagundez was born in Montevideo, Uruguay before moving to the U.S. when he was a young child. He became a permanent American resident in October 2013, but has not gotten his American citizenship yet.
The Homegrown player is in his fourth professional season with the Revolution. He has made 78 appearances in New England after signing a contract in November 2010. Fagundez has collected 21 goals and 13 assists in MLS play.
