Around SBN: The MMA (After) Hour

Brian Bilello has taken to the Revs blog personally to give us an update on what's going on with Jose Moreno. Sounds about the way I thought it would: we had an agreement, a signed contract, and then this stuff came out of nowhere, and now no one can get a hold of anyone.

I've always liked Brian for stuff like this, but unfortunately this probably isn't going to be enough for disgruntled fans. At least, that's what I'm getting by judging the comments section. Some of them are a tad brutal.

Accident?

Steve, I know that from the minute Billello was pormoted, you said “Give the guy a chance to prove himself” among the voices of negativity.

So may be the Moreno thing is just bad luck!

But has it happened to any other well run teams? You create your own bad luck by your own incompetence.

When I see the way Billello decided regarding Zerka and Lekic and even Caraglio, I question if he had a clue. It is not about money because none of the guys are DPs. It is about running an organization the right way and honestly, what has Billello done that would prove he is competent for his role?

Fortgate?

He is harvesting what he sowed!

So I am to the point where I am just laughing and I am just waiting for bad news and bad decisions and I hope they beat all records for futility in this league.

I hope they have the most imperfect season of all time because honestly, I cannot find a worse F.O. anywhere in the MLS.

Go REvs!

I hesitate to blame Brian for most of that

Mike is the GM, so he’s doing all the contracts and player acquisition and whatnot. Brian is the guy who gets to fire Mike if he screws up, which I honestly think Brian will happily do if that comes to pass.

As for Fortgate, he’s done some good things to try and repair the rift since then. I’ll never agree with his support of the security crackdown, but at least he stood by his convictions, was honest about it, and has been working with the Riders and Rebels to fix things. I have a Fortgate Postmortem post that’s been brewing for weeks I need to get up, you’ll see some of that in there.

I read the MLS story

by Kyle McCarthy earlier today and it said there was a translator involved. Potentially a language barrier screw up?

Doubt it

Feel like Once Caldas would have been all over that
