Real Revs fans, how many few of us are left given the treatment we have received from the team management know too well the story of Marko Perovic. Here came a talented player who had immediate and lasting impact and became a fan favorite.
The following year, he is once again one of the top player until blowing up his knee on the artificial turf of Foxboro. The Revs management rewards his contribution, effort and dedication by cutting him on July 1st.
Thus began the curse of Marco Perovic ......
What is the curse of Marko Perovic? It is simple. It means that any new international signee will be a best or will not come back. It will also mean that skilled players will not want to play for the Revolutions.
Case in point: Caraglio, Zerka ...... Also. note that Moreno had a change of heart and now wants to stay with Once Caldas. Even if the Revs can enforce the contract assuming there is on, do you really want to have a player on he roster that does not want to play on the team?
Also, Borman has decided he rather plays in South Africa than for the Revs. He was our pick from the re-entry draft.
So it is now obvious that when it comes to playing for the local 11, it is like playing near Fukishima. Anyone in his right mind would rather not do it, unless they have to.
The common thread is the always very competent and qualified Mike Burns who does not seem to be able to sign players or get players who want to play here. Note that Jaqua and the other pickup are still unsigned. Only Simms from the re-entry draft is on the roster.
So the season opens in 31 days. Does anyone really believe that in the current shape, the team can aspire at anything better than last place?
What low attendance number will it take for the management to "pretend" to care?
