Bobby Shuttleworth : Average Rating - 5.33 (Steve 5.5, Corey 5, Matty 5.5)
Steve: Didn't have a lot to do, but did it well. Showcased his aerial command by coming way out to claim a dangerous cross that MacDonald was ready to put away...Corey: Never really tested. Showed off his aerial presence, like, once...Matty: Solid, average performance, bonus half point for the clean sheet.
Kevin Alston: Average Rating - 6.33 (Steve 6, Corey 6.5, Matty 6.5)
Steve: Looked good, as he has for most of the end of the season. Can't shoot, though...Corey: So much better at LB. Jay, please pencil him in there for 2013 (never thought I'd be saying that)...Matty: I don't know if the move to a new position challenged him, or if it just suits his skill set, but he's been great at LB.
A.J. Soares: Average Rating - 6.5 (Steve 6.5, Corey 6.5, Matty 6.5)
Steve: Looked like the Soares we all know he can be, and I think he can be even better...Corey: Much improved performance out of A.J., especially coming off injury...Matty: Been waiting for a beast performance like this for a while from AJ. Great stuff.
Darrius Barnes: Average Rating - 5.83 (Steve 5.5, Corey 6, Matty 6)
Steve: Early on made one or two small gaffes that could have been big issues, but recovered well and was his typical smooth, beastly self...Corey: Kind of a quiet night but still solid...Matty: Strong, physical, and kept the Fire attackers quiet.
Ryan Guy: Average Rating - 5.83 (Steve 5.5, Corey 6, Matty 6)
Steve: Appeared to benefit from the fluidity in formation and looked much more comfortable...Corey: Was much more effective and focused defensively. By no means would I advocate for him at RB moving forward, but I feel much more comfortable with the idea now...Matty: Better than he has been in the past at RB, but I'm still not sold.
Diego Fagundez: Average Rating - 7.33 (Steve 7.5, Corey 7.5, Matty 7)
Steve: Killer movement, great touch, good passing, and a nasty shot. That goal was a hell of a birthday gift for his mom...Corey: Great game. Showed a lot of energy up to the final whistle. Worked hard defensively. Almost like the idea of him getting more time in at midfield...Matty: Lovely blast from distance. Diego gives the Revs a dynamic they haven't had in a while: an attacking mid who loves dribbling at defenders and makes them commit.
Clyde Simms: Average Rating - 6.67 (Steve 7, Corey 6.5, Matty 6.5)
Steve: Took care of the ball with a 90.7% completion percentage, but more importantly, marked Rolfe out of the game and covered so much ground. Masterful performance in the trenches...Corey: Quiet game but probably his best game in the past month, maybe more...Matty: Best performance by far down the stretch.
Blair Gavin: Average Rating - 6.67 (Steve 6, Corey 7, Matty 7)
Steve: Very impressive with his vision, dictated tempo, and looked eager to get forward and pull the strings. Could be on to something here...Corey: Really impressive outing. Was all over the pitch. Great awareness and energy...Matty: Thought he wasn't a real person considering how little we've seen him, but what an entrance by the young midfielder. Good motor, nice vision.
Kelyn Rowe: Average Rating - 5.5 (Steve 5.5, Corey 5.5, Matty 5.5)
Steve: Wasn't too remarkable, but his 83.3% completion percentage indicates that he did a better job of taking care of the ball than we're used to from him. Good shift...Corey: Didn't do anything very remarkable but had a nice outing...Matty: Rookies tend to hit the wall this time of year, and when they've played as much as Kelyn has, it's totally understandable.
Jerry Bengtson: Average Rating - 4.33 (Steve 4.5, Corey 4.5, Matty 4)
Steve: High workrate, but good God man, you need to score that goal...Corey: - Obviously has point deductions for missing two guaranteed goals. Looked just generally worn out, but still made some runs and kept the Chicago back-line honest...Matty: There may not be a player on this Revs roster that needs this seson to end more than Jerry. Guy needs a two week spa vacation after all of the minutes he's played all over the world in 2012.
Dimitry Imbongo: Average Rating - 4.33 (Steve 4.5, Corey 4.5, Matty 4)
Steve: I wasn't sure what his role was on the night, and I'm not sure he knew either...Corey: Looked totally lost, to be honest...Matty: If you could add some tactical awareness and soccer IQ to his obviously massive physical talents, he'd be a hell of a player.
Juan Toja: Average Rating - 5.67 (Steve 5.5, Corey 5.5, Matty 6)
Steve: On the way to another middling performance before that great ball to spring Diego on Jerry's muffed chance. Next year should be fun...Corey: Looked pretty sharp, especially with possession. Like his vision...Matty: Best I've seen from him since his acquisition. A full off season with the club is going to do wonders for him.
Chris Tierney: Average Rating - 5.5 (Steve 5, Corey 6, Matty 5.5)
Steve: Looked happy to be on the field. Service was decent, too...Corey: Looked hungry and made himself very involved on the attack, including a couple dangerous, charging runs into the box that could have amounted to something if the Revs attack was clicking a bit better. Forget how much I like him at LM...Matty: Saw what I loved from him at LM, as he's aggressive, dangerous making runs, and has a good left foot to provide service.
After every match this season, the staff here at The Bent Musket will be putting together player ratings. Ratings are on a 1-10 scale, with 5 representing a thoroughly average performance, and 6 a decent/capable showing. The final ratings will be averages of individual ratings from Steve Stoehr, Corey Major, and Matty Jollie. Abram Chamberlain and Brendan Schimmel had to sit this one out.
