New England Revolution vs. New York Red Bulls: Live Game Thread!

HARRISON, NJ - JUNE 10: Chris Tierney #8 of the New England Revolution and Teemu Tainio #2 of the New York Red Bulls battle for position on a loose ball during the game at Red Bull Arena on June 10, 2011 in Harrison, New Jersey. (Photo by Andy Marlin/Getty Images)

Welcome to the New England Revolution vs. New York Red Bulls live game thread! Tonight the Revs face a stern test against a star-studded Red Bulls lineup that, even without marquee DP Thierry Henry, is positively oozing with talent and quality. New York has had a disappointing season thus far, sitting just nine points above the Revs in the East in 5th place when many picked them to be MLS Cup contenders. The Revs, on the other hand, will be looking to solve their late-match woes after Wednesday, when they yet again let a lead slip away in the late stages of a game.

I'm going to change gears a little this week and postulate that the key to the game for the Revs in tonight's clash is going to be fearlessness. The Revolution hasn't been much of an attacking team this season and when they get ahead, they tend to retreat into a shell that ends up preventing them from taking all three points. Tonight, New England needs bloodlust. They need to score early and then press to score again. A one goal lead just won't cut it. Furthermore, the Revs will be without the services of goalkeeper Matt Reis, so they may need a larger cushion if they expect to take points from this match.

The injury report from Thursday lists Kheli Dube, Franco Coria and Sainey Nyassi as out. Chris Tierney and Rajko Lekic are probable.

Lineups and your thoughts after the jump.

Tierney out

Despite being listed as probable on Thursday. Apparently hasn’t sufficiently recovered.

Schilawski is warming up

Thinking that it’s for Rajko, but it honestly looks like it might be Milton by his body language

And there's the obligatory Cochrane gaffe

Let’s see if he can hold up for the rest of the match

Best half of soccer the Revs have played all year

Two good goals, some really good passing stretches, and one really awful call by the referee

This ref

Is very bad. Fairly so, as in he misses calls for everyone, but still really bad.

Cochrane mistake

Misjudged the ball. That was bad.

And now Mansally is off

The Revs just blew a perfect game in 10 minutes.

You still have a very realistic shot at the playoffs

If we win tonight, we still need to win out to have a decent chance at a last-seed playoff berth

McCarthy on for Lekic

Bunkering down after going down a man. Unfortunately, this means they’ll probably lose.

Auvray is dangerous

I’ve always been a fan of his play

Nicol appears frozen on subs right now

Like he’s afraid to change something. He needs to get Caraglio out, the guy is huffing real bad

Yeah

it was. Cochrane is just an awful, clumsy defender. THere should have been two penalties, and I really want the Red Bulls to get a win in any way possible right now, but they really don’t deserve to win after getting their asses kicked for a whole half.

That's that

2-2. Disappointing, no adjustments after the #NYRB equalizer.
