New England Revolution vs. Seattle Sounders: Live Game Thread

Photo

Welcome to the New England Revolution vs. Seattle Sounders live game thread! The Revs should be well-rested tonight with eight days gone since their 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire last week. The Sounders, meanwhile, are in the midst of a difficult three-game six-day swing after their 4-2 thriller with New York on Thursday.

The key for the Revolution tonight is to hold nothing back. After gaining just two points from their last home stand (where they faced two of the worst teams in the league), the only way to salvage this season is to start picking up three points in as many games as possible, home or away. CenturyLink Field (formerly Qwest) is never an easy place to go and get a result but, unfortunately, the Revs' backs are against the wall and they have to do what they can to claw back up in the standings.

In place of game notes, I'll instead leave you with this little tidbit: The Revs are one of only three teams in MLS history with a winning record against the Sounders.

Lineups and your comments after the jump.

Feilhaber as a forward

By the way. What is this? Out of left field.

Looks to be dropping deeper with Lekic playing up

Feilhaber maybe playing a second-striker sort of role?

I'm not sure how I feel about starting Benny

I understand it may be essential, but their turf is worse than ours. And only 4 weeks for an ankle sprain? That peg isn’t 100%

Lucky Pat

I think yellow was the right call, but man that’s been a red before for other referees

Great goddamn free kick from Wahl there

Actually

Reis cheated near post. If he’d stayed home he might have had a play on that

same old Revs

back to our possession problems. no passing. bad decisions.

32% possession

Away or not, that’s just abysmal

Nyassi should have gone wide to Alston!

Open man! instead it’s a giveaway….

was literally screaming that at my TV. more bad decisions.

Wait

Why Boggs? Nyassi was doing fine! And Guy just set up Lekic!

these subs

make no sense. I would have taken out Phelan, pulled Feilhaber back in the mid and put Nyassi up top with Lekic. this is stupid. another reason why we need to replace Nicol?

by Corey E. Major on Jun 26, 2011 5:30 PM EDT reply actions

Could be

I’d have kept either Nyassi or Guy on, myself. Feilhaber definitely needs to be in midfield.

And now...

…let’s welcome Revolution alum Pat Noonan

Benny's passing has been poor

And Lekic’s first touch is still pretty bad when he’s not facing goal or in the box. These things are killing every attack.

really bad game for Feilhaber, excluding the first 10 minutes

by Corey E. Major on Jun 26, 2011 5:58 PM EDT up reply actions

that right there had to be the most passing i saw all game. a solid 45 seconds of passing. and then Alston losing it.

I know

This isn’t looking good

Officiating has been just bad.

One-sided in favor of the Sounders, but he’s still missing calls for them, too. Important ones.
