Twellman: MLS team ignored my concussions - Boston.com
This is bad. Like, really bad. I mean, it was 3 years ago, so you hope something like this would never happen again. But it's still bad. Definitely shows how far we've come, and also how far we still have to go, in understanding and diagnosing concussions.

Taylor also said he backs the team
In a follow up post he said “it’s about education” and “they didn’t recognize Nausea as a symptom”

I saw that afterward
I’m less appalled about the Revs conduct and more just about how backward we really were just three years ago

Sad way to end a great career
What I never understood is that the official reason listed when Twellman was out of the line up was “whiplash symptons” or something like that. I am gald that Twellman did not find in his heart to critisize the ownership but in the back of my mind, I have always wondered if the medical handling would have been the same if Brady had suffered the same injury.
I am not using Brady lightly because I believe Twallman was as critical to the success of the Revs as Brady is to the Pats. I doubt that he would have been on the sideline for two years with “Whiplash symptoms”.
I think it comes down to respect and caring and sadly the owners have nothing for the Revs.
I am just glad Twellman was able to have a successful reconversion as a broadcaster.
Indeed
I’m just happy he’s getting his life back. I think the biggest thing to take away from this article (and the follow-up Hank linked in his comment) is just how far we’ve come in concussion diagnosis and education in the last three years alone, and also how important it is we continue to try and get a handle on this injury, its symptoms, and its effects.

Someone please tell me
I know it’s not just the revs, other teams are dealing with concussions (I know Jimmy Conrad just had to retire) what do you guys think about how the revs handle Pat Phelan’s concussion and more importantly (not to say Pat’s not important) Diego’s concussion? I know absolutely nothing about how bad Diego’s concussion is/was but for this to happen to a sixteen year old rising star is terrible, do they have the education to handle this, because I’d rather see Diego go to a different team and succeed/become a star than have to end his career because of the revs.
I don't think this is indicative of the Revs having a poor training staff
Don’t forget this happened in 2008. The strides made in the last three years alone in this field are staggering. I sincerely doubt that they will take unnecessary risks with Diego.

"Ignored" too strong a word.
I don’t think it was “ignored” per se, I think it’s just the lack of knowledge that training staffs in EVERY sport had about concussions. To echo what Steve said, it’s mind-blowing how huge a leap forward the diagnosis and treatment of concussions has come in the last three years.
